2018 Sassenach

100% Cabernet Foch from the Estate from an exceptionally warm, extended growing season. A hybrid of Marechal Foch and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine takes on a character similar to that of a Cabernet Franc-based Super Tuscan: bright, crunchy red fruit, ample tannin, and persistent acidity, well-suited too a long lifespan.

Sassenach is a derogatory term for an English invader, and a fitting moniker for Andy, who relocated from England in the eighties, now considered a Godfather of the Island wine industry. This cuvée is an ode to Andy's story: a humble, resilient variety; Cabernet Foch evolved into something exceptional.
