Stoney, sloped, warm and terraced site at top of property for maximum exposure.
Unfiltered – the intention was to ‘rethink and revitalize’ Merlot from our site – the result is more textural, more gastronomic than our former style.
No filtration imparts a round, textural mouthfeel to the 2018 Rosé that is nevertheless bright and fresh as a result of the terroir. This method along with an inherent red-fruit character results in a luscious red-fruit effect on the palate.
Awards & Accolades
2011 - “[the winemaker] fermented this rosé in barrel and left it on the lees for six months. The lees contribution balances the acidity nicely. The wine has strawberry aromas and flavours and a crisp, dry finish.”
89 - John Schreiner (John Schreiner on Wine)
2010 - "...this refreshing rose offers up spicy red fruit, orange peel, apricots, vanilla and violets on the nose. It leads with sweet spiced berry flavours, has a silky weight and wonderfully balanced acidity to keep it lively."
88 Points - Daenna Van Mulligen (WineDiva.ca)
2010 - Bronze Medal, Wine Access Canadian Wine Awards “Best Roses” Category
2007 - “This wine has a wonderful balance of acidity to fruit flavours (appearance of sweetness) that make this wine a perfect patio sipper. A strawberry-apple nose and bright pink in color. I wish I had discovered this wine, another winner from Averill Creek Vineyard, earlier in the year. Keep this Rose in mind for any remaining sunny summer days or save in the cellar for first sign of sun next year.”
87 Points - Liam Carrier (Icon Wines)
