Warm, dry, sloped site. Planted over original old-growth forest floor, hence pristine soil. Organics from the forest which come through in profile. Lots of handwork and leaf removal.
Traditional - 10-12 months in French Oak. As 2017 was a cooler growing season and didn’t quite exude the necessary power, the fruit originally designated for Somenos Series made its way into this wine, making in an exceptional Estate edition.
Averill Creek's 2017 Estate Pinot Noir begins with a melange of sweet, savoury and floral aromas that entice you to a deep, complex fruit profile on the palate. Precise, textured acidity is partnered with soft, fine-grained tannins and an underlying freshness typical of Vancouver Island terroir.
