2017 Foch Eh

2017 Foch Eh

Unoaked, uncomplicated & fabulously fruity! Inviting aromas of grape jelly, strawberry licorice & a hint of bubblegum. Light bodied & dry on the palate featuring juicy mixed berry & pomegranate flavours with just a touch of tannin on the finish. Serve slightly chilled, solo, or as a partner to casual fare such as burgers, pizza or a picnic lunch.

"The 'Eh' represents a dollop of Canadian humour, as one might gather from the red maple leaf on the label of this offering from a serious-minded Vancouver Island producer. This is 100-per-cent maréchal foch, a cold-hardy red variety that played a big role in the early days of quality Canadian wine, more commonly referred to in these parts simply as foch. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a more accurate back-label description, so let’s paraphrase: unoaked, uncomplicated, fabulously fruity, grape jelly, strawberry licorice, bubblegum. Way to go, Averill Creek. Great choice for burgers or grilled sausages on a bun."
